CD/DVD/Vinyl Reviews

This is a split 7" Eastfield and Confrontation. The Eastfield track is called 'Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit' and I did think it was a little bit different to the stuff that they have done previous but it is still a good song and still has that Eastfield feel to it.
The Confrontation track 'Goin' Nowhere' I liked because they do have a similar style to Eastfield.
It is Typical old school punk but not furious paced and they are a band I would like to here more from.

Well Born Idle have been around for a while and I have been waiting for something by them and here it is 'Black Sheep Of The Family'. Since it was recorded Darran the drummer has 'left' the band.
Born I
dle are a very under-rated band and this CD is a great first effort. The guitarist Al is one of the best guitarists I have seen around the punk scene and it shows on this CD.
Most of the tracks are played at a furious pace that just makes you want to get up and dance. Foz's vocals are excellent and with great bass and drums they really have a great sound. My two favourite tracks on the CD are 'Kiss Away' and 'Merrygoround' two great tracks in what is for me a great album.

I had never heard anything by Paul Carter before I saw him live in Ashton-under-Lyne at The Station pub on October 3rd. He is a soloist and plays what I would call 'Acoustic Punk'.
He sings about everyday things that we can all associate with and when I saw him live I must admit his songs are very funny. His CD 'I Hate Work' is excellent if you enjoy a good laugh and I was pissing myself at some of his lyrics. The CD is well produced for DIY and it is obvious this guy has talent. If you like Macc Lads you'll like Paul Carter.

Track Listing: 1. I Hate Work 2. Putrid 3. Skater Punk 4. Porno shop. 5. In a Minute 6. Drinking Song

Thought I had mislayed this CD but now i've found it. 'Nettle' is quite a good CD and I think fans of The Jam might like them as I think their singer does sound a bit like Paul Weller. They aren't your typical punk band but they do sound different to most of what is around at the moment and that isn't a bad thing at all.
Every track on the CD has a different sound from 'Nettle' which is really melodic to 'Ramraid' which has a heavier sound to it and then there is an acoustic version of 'Nettle'.
This band have been going for 20 years and they have had other quite successful releases in that time.
Track Listing :
1. Nettle 2. Ramraid 3. Make A Choice 4. Nettle (Acoustic)
