'Rebel Songs' by Goldblade is packed with good singalongs. I have always thought of Goldblade as the child of both punk and oi parents, which produced this different kind of sound.
The first song on the album 'Psycho' is excellent and it always reminds me of footballer Stuart Pierce (A staunch supporter of Captain Oi). It should be played before all Manchester City's home games. Most of the songs on this album are powerful with aggression whilst still being melodic. Other great tracks off the album are 'Black Sheep Radical', 'Cops And Robbers' and '(War) Not In My Name', but for me the best track off this album is '
Fighting In The Dancehall' which is a classic. Goldblade really do span the musical barriers from punk and oi through to rock and roll.

I hadn't really heard much by Guitar Gangsters until this CD. 'Let 'Em Have It' is quite a good album and there are plenty of genres covered. Some songs are punk, some rock, there is a reggae track 'Money In My Pocket' and others lean more towards rock 'n' roll. There is even a cover of 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' which I wasn't too keen on to be honest. I think Guitar Gangsters sound best on their faster songs because the guitar sounds more in tune with what we expect from punk. I thought the best tracks of the 14 on the album were 'It's Only Punk', 'Going To London', 'Inside Outside' and 'To Be A God' which are all excellent songs. I also thought Guitar Gangsters are also very good lyrically.

This 21 track CD 'False Gestures For A Devious Public' by The Blood, which includes 10 bonus tracks is the first stuff I have heard by the band. This album is mostly old school punk and a bit of Oi but there also some tracks that are very metally and even a blues track 'Throttle You Blue'.
On the whole this is a pretty good album and some of the tracks I thought were best off the album were 'Done Some Brain Cells Last Nite', 'Degenerate', 'Calling The Shots', 'Napalm Job' (Demo) and 'Coffin Dodgers' (Demo) which I thought was the best of the lot. I did think sometimes think the guitar was a bit too flambouyant and more in keeping with the likes of AC/DC as I have always thought punk is best kept simple. Well worth a listen though.

The Violators were one of several punk bands that didn't get as much notice as they really deserved.
'The No Future Years' really is a great CD and mixes both female and male lead vocals (mostly female). Helen Hills vocals are very similar to Siouxsie Sioux especially on 'Die With Dignity', in fact I would go as far to say the band as a whole are definately influenced by the 'Banshees'. The songs with male lead vocals are more aggressive and this gives the songs a different sound. Out of the 16 tracks on the album my favourites were 'Pointless Slaughter', 'Fugitive' 'Live Fast Die Young' and 'Summer of '81' (Both studio and live versions). A great CD and a certain hit with any Siouxsie And The Banshees fans.
