This
self titled album is basically the classic 'Police
Story' (released 1983) but with bonus tracks. This
welsh band although not together for many years recorded
some excellent songs and most of them are on this album.
There are 19 tracks on the album, 7 of them bonus tracks.
I thought the best of the bunch were 'No U Turns',
'17 Years Of Hell', 'Arms Race', 'I
Don't Give A Fuck' , 'Mindless Violence'
and my favourite 'Bastards In Blue' (bonus track).
This for me is one of Captain Oi's best releases to date
and considering some of their previous releases that's
going some. The Partisans although never attaining the
heights of more popular bands were for me every bit as
good and in some cases better. This is a classic punk
CD and is an essential addition to all punks collections.

'The
Last Call' (originally released 1981) has been
increased from the original 15 tracks to 29 (15 bonus
tracks). This for me was the best of the 2 albums this
Derby based band released. Amongst the bonus tracks
are several of the bands earliest singles that weren't
released on any albums '1980', 'Two Years
Too Late', 'Something New', 'Let Them
Free', 'Six Guns' and 'Now's The Time'
all appear on CD for the first time. Some of the classic
tracks on the album are 'Night Of The Warcry',
'The Last Call', 'Hell' and for me the best
track on the album 'No Government'. Also amongst
the bonus tracks are several songs off Anti Pasti's
Apocalypse Tour, several of the bands single versions
and two from their Wragby Studiuo Session. Good value
and maybe it's time to stop wearing the grooves out
on the vinyl.

When
I got the list of new releases for March from Captain
Oi, this was the main album I was looking forward to hearing.
The Straps have been around over 25 years and were a major
force on the London punk scene in the early 80's. 'The
Punk Collection' has 16 tracks on it, 3 of which
have 2 different versions 'New Age','Brixton'
and 'No Liquor'. The single version of Brixton
is excellent and easily the best of the 2 different versions.
Other great Songs on the album are 'What's On The
Box' (live) which sounds distinctly like the Sex
Pistols, 'Lies', a great cover of 'House
Of The Rising Sun' which is considerably faster than
the original by The Animals and for me the best track
off the album 'Ex-Directory'. Gets my vote.
