This
self titled debut album by Rule 303 is the first by an
Aussie band to appear on punk4life's reviews. This is
the first thing i've heard from this band from Sydney
who are playing Wasted Morecambe this year. After hearing
this album i'll certainly be watching them there.
It's good to see a punk band from down under who really
have the capacity to make a name for themselves on the
British punk scene. They are an old school punk band with
bags of aggression.
There are 12 tracks on the album which is a great effort
for a debut album. I thought the best tracks off the album
were 'Get Off Your Arse' 'Charged',
and 'I Ain't The One'. The production could be
better but it's well worth a listen.

Venerea
are another band who I hadn't heard of until this album.
They are from a small town on the west coast of Sweden.
After listening to 'One Louder' I thought Venerea
have definately been more influenced by the US punk scene
than the the UK scene. They sound more in tune with what
we are used to hearing from US bands like Green Day and
Good Charlotte.
Having said that I thought the album was pretty good.
There are 14 tracks on the album and I thought the best
tracks were 'Calling Card', 'Implosive',
'Rearview' and I thought the best track was 'Guantanamo'.
I think they could do well in the states more so than
the UK.

This
DIY album is by two guys from Aberdeen who call themselves
Terminal X. How they play gigs is beyond me as they share
vocals, guitar, bass, drums and keyboards between them
on the album. 'Unwind With The X' might not be
the best DIY album i've heard, but i've heard a lot worse.
Some of the tracks on the album aren't what I call punk
and 'Grumpy Old Git' 'Rude Boy' and
'I used To Be Mad' where the keyboards are more
apparent are the worst tracks on the album. Punk should
be simple and I think they have over elaborated on some
tracks. Drop the keyboards and stay simple. The remaining
9 other tracks on the album aren't too bad and I did like
'Get The Kids To Do It' and 'Hackers And
Minkers'.

Weekend
Warriors are from Pittsburgh and this self titled album
is their debut release. They are another band who will
be putting their talent on show at wasted Morecambe this
year.
They aren't like the rest of the US bands who are trying
to make it on the punk scene as most of those bands sound
very similar. Weekend Warriors have their own sound, a
sound that at times sounds very British. The album is
very good and the best tracks of the 12 on offer in my
opinion were 'The Ol 1-2', 'Not Superficial'
and 'Bulldog Pride'. I think they will go down
well at Wasted Morecambe and get some British fans interested
in their music.
