I have listened to 'Pure Punk Rock Therapy' a
lot in the couple of days I have had it and i'm impressed.
They do have a bit of a slant towards the US but their
music is fast and hard but very tuneful and punk as fuck.
I hear a lot of albums by up and coming bands but as far
as Guns On The Roof are concerned their music is already
there, they just need good promotion and the rest will
all fall into place. The album is very well produced and
of the 14 tracks on offer I thought there was only one
dud, funnily enough the only slow and completely different
track on the album. Keep to the fast stuff guys. The rest
is great. The two tracks I thought were the best were
'Derailed' and 'Hangman'. Being a good
songwriter myself I thought the lyrics to Hangman were
superb and it was like an anthem about mankind destroying
the planet. If Ryan can write more stuff as good they
should use him as much as they can.

I
watched Vas Deferens live only recently and they were
excellent. This 13 track album 'Heads Held High'
(Their debut) is also a great effort. Their music isn't
like your normal punk, one of the tracks on the album
'Punk Rock 'N' Roll' describes their style
perfectly. The band have a real British sound which
is refreshing in an age dominated by American sounding
bands. Whilst being done in the studio I thought this
album had a real live feel to it.
My personal favourites off the album were 'Same
Old Shit', 'C.S.A.', 'No News'
and 'Fear Of Fighting' which I thought was
the best track on this well produced album. It certainly
won't surprise me if these guys are approached by some
label who recognise their potential.

I
was surprised to be sent 'Seek & Betray'
by Purgatory State because in my opinion it isn't punk
at all. It is more like metal and the vocals are very
like those of Justin Hawkins of The Darkness. In this
day and age do we believe something is punk because
we are told it is? I am not saying it is a bad CD but
I object to things being termed punk when they aren't
even on the same planet, and this for me isn't. There
are enough none punk bands jumping on the punk bandwagon
as it is. If people go to see this band live and on
the flyer it says they are punk people will feel cheated.
The CD itself is actually a well produced effort but
with metal not being my forte I found it hard to view
it objectively. I honestly think this band will have
more success playing to rock/metal crowds.

Well
not to beat about the bush 'Shitty Zombies' is
a very good debut CD by Revenge Of The Psychotronic Man.
It is fast paced and having seen the band a couple of
times they can replicate this good sound live too. Most
of the new punk bands playing the circuit at the moment
have gone for that American sound which gives them no
identity but I think Revenge will hopefully retain enough
integrity to keep to this side of the Atlantic with their
musical style. Of the ten tracks on the album I thought
the first two were excellent 'Here's One For You'
and 'Alcohol Is Not A Drug' and 'Mary Jane
Or Lois Lane' and 'Rita, Sue and Bob too' are also
good songs. One criticism though. Two of the ten tracks
were under 30 seconds and looked like they had been added
as an afterthought to take this CD to album length.
