Originally
released on Virgin Records in 1978 'Moving Targets'
by Penetration is a welcome addition to Captain Oi's
catalogue. This is in my opinion the best album Penetration
have released so far and it contains most of the songs
the band are most famous for. 'Life's A Gamble',
'Stone Heroes', 'Nostalgia', 'Don't
Dictate' and 'Firing Squad' are all there
amongst the 16 tracks on this excellent CD.
Pauline Murray was one of only a handful female punk
singers in a mainly male dominated genre but her instantly
recogniseable vocals made sure Penetration left their
mark. Other songs on the album are 'Future Daze',
'Lover Of Outrage', 'Vision', 'Silent
Community', 'Movement', 'Too Many
Friends', 'Reunion', 'Free Money',
'Money Talks', 'Never' and 'V.I.P'.

This
is the first of 2 albums by The Members to be added
to the Captain's catalogue this month. 'At The Chelsea
Nightclub' Originally released in 1979 now has
8 bonus tracks added to the 11 on the original.
The Members were very different to most bands around
at the time as their music covered several genres including
punk, ska and reggae and this album shows how varied
their material was. 'The Sound Of The Suburbs','Solitary
Confinement' and 'Offshore Banking Business'
the 3 songs The Members will be best remembered for
all are all on the CD. Some of other good songs on the
CD are 'Sally', 'Stand Up And Spit',
'Chelsea Nightclub', 'Fear On The Streets'
and 'Rat Up A Drainpipe'. I hadn't heard some
of these songs for ages and on the whole this is a pretty
good CD and i'd recommend it.

The
second album by The Members to be released by Captain
Oi this month is '1980 - The Choice Is Yours'
which was originally released in 1980 unsurprisingly enough.
As with a lot of punk or new wave artists The Members
later albums never attained the quality of their first
album. As with their first album this is a real mixed
bag with some punk, ska and some songs that you couldn't
place in any catagory. I think if the band had stuck to
one genre they may have attained more success. There are
good songs on the album ('Goodbye To The Job',
'Flying Again', 'Clean Men', 'GLC'
and 'Ballad Of John & Martin') but of the
17 tracks on the album (which includes 6 bonus tracks)
there are a lot of songs that weren't my cup of tea. Not
one of Captain Oi's best releases.
