'MockCockSpockShockRock'
by ZEEB who hail from Shropshire (orinally from the
planet ZEEB Prime) is pop rock if anything but a few
tracks of the 12 do have a bit of a punky feel to them.
This is their debut album on Fiddler Crab Music which
has a space theme (Interstella Laby, Gravity Sack, Mothership
Earth etc). I think the band are on another planet with
their worrying obsession with anal probes but at least
they are trying to add a bit of humour to their music.
Some of their tracks do have a bit of a Darkness feel
to them and on the whole this isn't a bad effort for
a debut album although the production could have been
better. I think there is a chance they could with good
promotion make inroads into the pop rock genre. Having
said that it wasn't my cup of tea.

If
you are into psychobilly 'Beyond The Grave' by
the Californian band Rezurex just might be for you. I've
never been a big fan of psychobilly but as psychobilly
goes this is as good as it gets. For a debut album this
is a very good effort and I can honestly say I enjoyed
listening to this 11 track album.
Rezurex are regularly filling clubs in their home state
to capacity and on the evidence of this album it won't
be long before their popularity will cross the Atlantic.
This is classic psychobilly and the purests will love
it. I honestly couldn't pick a favourite track myself
because it was all good. I haven't been converted to psychobilly
yet but if I get the chance to see these guys live i'll
be there. For what my opinion counts I think this is the
best psychobilly album i've heard.

This
is the first of 2 albums by The Dead pets to be released
by Ten Past Ten Records. Previously the albums were only
available at gigs as the band were completely self promoted,
but now they are on sale in the shops.
'Too Little Too Late' is The Dead Pets 13 track
debut album. It mixes punk and ska in a way that no other
band can. The band who are based in Leeds have really
excelled with this album which combines raw punk guitar,
aggressive vocals and a great brass section. It is mostly
fast and furious but there are a couple of slower tracks.
Of the 13 tracks I thought 'W.M.C. (Working Mens Club),
'Bad Attitude', 'Tokyo Crush' and 'Boomtown
Glory' were the best off what is a very good album.
The band are well known for their excellent stage shows
but their work in the studio is also well worth listening
to if you aren't acquainted with them. The CD is available
in the shops. |

'The
Revenge Of The Village Idiots' is the second album
by The Dead Pets to be released on Ten Past Ten Records.
It is a great album that will appeal to both punk and
ska fans alike. It's fast as fuck and Sweeny's vocals
really pump out aggression. The backing vocals are good
too. The brass section really adds another dimension to
punk and this CD, but I do think the brass could be a
bit more to the forefront on some tracks. Most of their
choruses are singalong and you just have to join in.
It is a well produced album and the sound is great. If
I had to choose favourites of the 9 tracks on the album
the I would go for 'If It Sells, It sells' and
'Never Never' which is superb.
Now that the album is available on Ten Past Ten Records
I think that the bands popularity will reach further as
the label can do a lot more than when the album was self
promoted. The CD is available in the shops.
