CD/DVD/Vinyl Reviews

Well if i'm being honest I was never that keen on The Motors and although they were around when punk first burst on the scene they were never anything to do with punk in my book.
This album 'The Motors 1' (Originally released on Virgin Records in 1977) is the first of 3 albums by The Motors released by Captain Oi this month. I myself thought The Motors were typical of other rock/pop bands in the mid to late 70s with nothing to distinguish them apart. This their first album release isn't anything to write home about and also contains quite a few songs which are in my opinion far too long. Of the 12 songs on the album only one is under 3 minutes long and half are over 4 minutes long, 2 over six minutes. The two songs off the album you might remember are 'Dancing The Night Away' and 'Emergency'. A good album if you've run out of sleeping tablets.

'Approved By The Motors' (Originally released on Virgin Records in 1978) is the second release by The Motors on Captain Oi this month. It contains 'Airport' which is the song The Motors will be most remembered for. As with their first album too many of their songs drag on far too long. Of the 15 songs on this album only two are under 3 minutes and one is over 8 minutes.
Other songs off the album are 'Mamma Rock 'N' Roller', 'Forget About You', 'Do You Mind', 'You Beat The Hell Outta Me', 'Breathless', 'Soul Redeemer', 'Dreaming Your Life Away', ' Sensation', 'Today' and 5 bonus tracks.
For me The Motors music had nothing that would make you say 'Hey that's The Motors' but you are more likely to say 'What's this fucking shit'. An infinitely forgettable band.

AHOY CD 277 THE MOTORS "APPROVED BY THE MOTORS"

This the final of 3 albums by The Motors 'Tenement Steps' (Originally released on Virgin Records in 1980) to be released by Captain Oi this month has still got too many songs that are far too long on it. One bad thing about reviewing CDs is that you have to listen to some dross and in my opinion this album is dross. There are 17 tracks on this album and it bored me to tears. Slightly different to the first two albums it certainly isn't any better. The track listing is 'Love And Loneliness', 'Metropolis', 'Modern Man','That's What John Said', 'Tenement Steps', 'Slum People', 'Here Comes The Hustler' and 'Nightmare Zero'. There are also 9 bonus tracks.
Captain Oi's releases are usually excellent but I don't think these 3 albums by The Motors will be breaking any records sales wise.
