I
had never even heard of Alexisonfire until I got this
CD and started checking them out. They come from Toronto,
which makes them the first Canadian band to have a CD
reviewed by Punk4life. Definitely a band who are going
places, their two previous albums (Alexisonfire and
Watch out) have sold 28,000 copies in the UK alone.
'Crisis' which is their third album since their
formation in 2000 ranges from hardcore right through
to melodic. Whilst a lot of bands from the North American
continent have a very similar sound, there is a unique
quality to Alexisonfires sound. There are 10 tracks
on the CD and one 'This Could Be Anywhere In The
World' is available for download. Expect to hear
their name mentioned as they start a UK tour on 10th
November 2006.

'Off
The Rails' is the first thing i've heard by Penrith
punks No Thrills and it's certainly a good effort. I like
my punk old school style and No Thrills are certainly
old school. These guys show what strength in depth there
is amongst the relatively unknown bands that are gigging
constantly around the UK. I have heard a lot of releases
by unknown bands this year and this is definitely up there
with the best of them. Well produced this 10 track CD
is packed with quality songs and where usually you get
a few tracks on any CD that you don't like, this is an
exception to the rule. I liked every one of the songs
on this CD.
Best songs off the CD in my book were 'I Don't wanna
Be With U', 'Little Billy' and 'Backstabber
Baby' which I thought was the best song off a top
notch CD.

Well
the title of this CD is very appropriate considering that
Apocalypse babies could have given Oliver Reed and George
Best a run for their money in a drinking competition.
Whoever owns the off licence near these guys is one lucky
bastard.
This is a pretty good CD with 13 tracks and 9 other bits
and pieces. The production ain't bad and in general I
enjoyed the CD. Some of the songs have a Ramones feel
to them and for me the best songs on the CD were 'Too
Old To Dance','The Oldest Punks In Town'
and the best of the bunch 'Mid-Life Crisis'.
One thing though there are a few covers 'Limo Life'
(UK Subs) and 'White Christmas' (Bing Crosby)
that aren't really needed as the bands own material will
stand up on it's own.
Any venues thinking of offering these guys a spot should
do 'cos they'll drink the place dry.

This
is the first studio CD from Vice Squad for three years
and long overdue it is. Fans have had a long wait but
i'm sure they won't mind after hearing 'Defiant'.
Raw and aggressive this is Vice Squad back to something
like their best. Never a real fan of the band in the past
this album has gone some way to changing my opinion. The
album kicks off with 'Voice Of The People' which
I can see rapidly becoming a favourite with fans. A lot
of the songs on the CD have that anthemic quality that
the band has always had and probably always will, but
that ain't a bad thing. Other songs off the CD that I
favoured were 'Britain Is Still Burning','Fast
Forward', 'You Can't Do That', and 'Antisocial
Insecurity' but it's nearly all good. In honesty
the long wait has been worth it and this is a quality
CD.
