'Reasons
To Revolt' a six track EP is the first material i've
heard by The Disappointments who are from Stoke-on-Trent.
The music is old school punk but most of the vocals are
more what you'd expect to hear from a hardcore band, but
boy does this formula work. It kicks off with the title
track which is only 1 minute 10 seconds long, fast as
fuck, packed with aggression and very catchy as is every
track on this EP. The title track was my favourite track
but it only just eclipses 'Less Than Three',
'No Charades', 'Marijuana', 'Investigater'
and 'The Surgeon General Can Kiss My Ass' which
are all quality songs. The Disappointments will attract
fans of punk and hardcore which will give them more scope
on the gig circuit . A well produced EP and the only negative
was that it wasn't a full length album.

Yet
another split CD by Destructors666 this time with SUP.
'No Parasan' is a six track EP (3 tracks by each
band). Destructors666 are rapidly becoming a favourite
of mine and as usual the 3 tracks by them are all quality
songs. I thought 'Psycho' which is a good singalong
was great and 'Flying Saucer Man' was excellent.
This is raw old school punk at it's best.
SUP are a UK ska band and if all their material is good
as the 3 tracks by them on this EP they are a match for
anyone in their genre. I hear a lot of Ska but these guys
are solid on every front. Musically sound with a great
brass section and vocals. 'The Return Of..' was
packed with everything you want in a ska song. I am sure
these guys will be making big waves on the ska circuit
in the very near future.

Another
band new to me but what a good band Insane Society are.
These guys come from Brighton and play rough and ready
old school punk. 'Upside Down' is their new 15
track album and with songs like 'Send In The Troops',
'Evicted' and 'Johnny Holmes',a comical
song about the long lengthed, late 70s porno star, these
guys mix humour with real issues. Best tracks for me were
'Bastard' which is pure aggression, 'Made
In China', which is about China becoming a giant
in the manufacturing industry and 'Seaford Town'
which is an anthem to the non-league football club of
the same name. it's nice to hear these guys paying homage
to their local team in this catchy singalong song which
hopefully gets played over the speakers on match days.
Not a bad effort this album and I enjoyed it.

Pentraitors
are yet another band who are new to me. This Worcestershire/Shropshire
based band have just released 'Operation Rape'
a 9 track DIY CD. I always like DIY albums because they
are essentially a punk invention and everything about
this CD is DIY right down to the handmade cover. Recorded
at the flat of one of their guitarists this is what punk
should be, not polished perfection. Punk ethics really
matter to this band. As for the album itself there are
a few influences here, mainly old school punk, hardcore
and ska but it all gels together nicely. Their songs are
about issues that obviously piss the band off. 'Let's
Start A War' kicks off the CD well and the excellent
'Birth Control' tells of mums popping out sprogs
on a regular basis whilst living on the Social. Excellent
CD.
